Robbery

At 3:50 this morning, Police received a report of a robbery on Front Street in the City of Hamilton, near the junction with Parliament Street. The victim, a 23 year old American man who is a visitor to the island, stated that he was walking along Front Street when he was approached by three men. The men offered to take him to an area nightclub but as they continued walking, the men pulled the 23 year old into an alley near The Beach and demanded money. The victim refused and a scuffle ensued. During the scuffle the men managed to steal the American man’s wallet containing $295 in cash and a Verizon cellular phone before making good their escape. The victim sustained a deep laceration above his right eye as a result, was treated at KEMH and released. The men are described as three brown skinned males in their early to mid 20s; at the time, one of the men was wearing a red & blue New York baseball cap, the second man was wearing a blue baseball cap and the third man had shoulder length dreadlocks. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Arrest – Counterfeit Currency

At 10:40pm on Tuesday, Police attended The Beach on Front Street in the City of Hamilton after a report of counterfeit currency being passed. On arrival officers spoke with the manager of the establishment who stated that after inspecting a BDA $100 note given to one of the bartenders, he discovered it was fake. He immediately called Police, who subsequently arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. The suspects, a 41 year old man and a 40 year old Southampton man, were taken to Hamilton Police station and detained. Inquiries are underway.
