Injury RTC

Around 10:30 this morning, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury involving a rental cycle and a bus. It appears that a male tourist riding a rental cycle east on Paynters Road in St. George’s near Tuckers Point Golf Club collided with a bus traveling in the opposite direction. The man was pinned under the bus for a short time and suffered serious hand injuries; however, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment.

Attempted Handbag Snatch

At 4:10pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of an attempted handbag snatch on Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton. The complainant, a 15 year old visitor to the island, stated that around 2:30pm she was walking on Burnaby Street near Vibe when an unknown man tried to grab the wallet she was holding, but was unsuccessful. She went into Vibe and observed the man pacing up and down outside the store. The 15 year old then decided to leave the store, and again the man tried to grab the wallet, but he was unsuccessful. After the second attempt she safely made it to the nearby workplace of a relative. The 15 year old visitor was not injured. The suspect is described as a brown skinned male of medium build, approximately 6’1” tall, clean shaven, wearing a white tank top and black jeans with two large silver chains with pendants (one chain was shorter than the other). He is believed to be in his mid 20s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Theft

At 2:35pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported theft from Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton. The complainant, who is a visitor to the island, stated that sometime between 2pm and 2:30pm that day, an unknown culprit stole his hiking bag from the beach. The bag contained a silver Nokia cellular phone, a green Apple I-Pod, $290 in cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Removed Vehicle

Around 10:45am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a removed vehicle. The complainant stated that her car, a blue Mitsubishi Colt license #09428 was stolen from Ray Clan Ltd. on Addendum Lane in Pembroke between 8pm on Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the car, a blue Mitsubishi Colt license #09428, to contact the Vehicle Crime Unit on 295-0011.
