The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, June 14th – Monday, June 21st 2010 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 35
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 35
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 11
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 19
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George’s = 6, Devonshire = 3, Pembroke = 4, Paget = 1, Warwick = 1, Southampton = 3 and Sandys parish = 1.

All of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles. Of the 19 vehicles reported stolen, 1 was subsequently recovered.

Weekend Activity

Over the National Heroes’ Day holiday weekend there were 10 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 5 reported burglaries. There were also 15 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 14 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 10 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
