Update - Murder of Frederick Maybury

Tue, 2010-06-15

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are continuing their enquiries into the brutal murder of Mr. Freddy Maybury at Woody’s Drive Inn on Monday 14th June, 2010. The two men arrested initially following the incident have been released on Police bail.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or persons with information to come forward and provide any helpful information. The enquiry has entered its second full day. Detectives have conducted witness interviews, house to house enquiries and seized evidence from the scene, including CCTV from nearby locations and Woody’s itself. This evidence is being reviewed, and where appropriate evidence will be sent overseas for processing.

The initial response has been encouraging but we are concerned that some witnesses who might have potentially significant information that can assist the Police have yet to come forward. Detectives will be identifying these persons through various investigative means, if they have not already been seen by the Police.

The investigating team continues to make progress and further updates will be provided to the public as appropriate.

Any witnesses to this incident are encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-8106. In addition, anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the confidential & independent Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477 (TIPS).
