Burglary - Around 8:40pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at Grotto Bay Beach hotel in Hamilton parish. It appears that a security officer for the premises saw a man go on to the property and into a ‘maids’ closet.’ When the man emerged from the closet holding a garbage bag, he was confronted by the security officer. The man dropped the garbage bag and fled the scene on foot. The items stolen from the ‘maids’ closet’ were recovered at the scene. A thorough search of the immediate area was conducted by Police officers which initially failed to locate the alleged culprit; however the suspect, a 41 year old Hamilton parish man, was subsequently arrested in the Harlem Heights Road , Hamilton parish area on suspicion of burglary. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 10:45am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at Triangle Diving Bermuda Ltd., located at the Grotto Bay Beach hotel in Hamilton parish. The complainant stated that sometime between 6pm Tuesday, December 15th 2009 and 8am Thursday, January 7th 2010 an unknown culprit gained entry into the dive shop. The culprit stole a quantity of diving equipment, including a wet suit, scuba masks and regulators. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 7:55am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at Ettrick Animal Hospital in Warwick. It appears that an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises overnight and stole a quantity of cash and medication. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. All residents should make sure windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals in their neighbourhoods to Police on 295-0011.
