Arrest

Police were on mobile patrol in the early hours of this morning in the area of East Broadway, Pembroke when they saw three cycles travelling at a high rate of speed leaving the City of Hamilton. The officers activated their emergency equipment and all the cycles refused to stop. Two cycles turned left onto Point Finger Road and made good their escape, while the other cycle continued northerly - nearly colliding with the north round-a-bout. He then turned onto Trimingham Hill where the rider struck the nearside curb and lost control of his cycle. Whilst dealing with the male, the officer smelled intoxicants on his breath and his speech was slurred. The man was arrested and cautioned and taken to the Hamilton Police Station where he refused to take the breathalyzer test. The suspect then became belligerent in the jail area and an incapacitant spray was used to bring the suspect under control. He then was detained.
