Around 7:10pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on Ord Road in Paget near the junction with Norden Lane involving a motorcycle, a pedal cycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Ord Road when the rider, a 48 year old Southampton man, attempted to negotiate a left hand bend. However, as the Southampton man negotiated the bend, he collided with a young woman on a pedal cycle and a young man who was walking with her. The motorcyclist then lost control and collided with an embankment. He was rushed to KEMH via ambulance but subsequently succumbed to his injuries. It appears that the young woman on the pedal cycle sustained non-life threatening facial injuries and was also taken to KEMH for treatment, while the young man was not injured. No further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified.
