Missing Person – Calvin Hansey Sr.

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 75 year old Calvin Hansey Sr. of Pembroke. Mr. Hansey was last seen at his residence around 7pm on Friday, 27th August 2010 by a family member. He is described as dark skinned, 5’9” tall of slim build and clean shaven.

Injury RTC - Around 11pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury near the junction of Roberts Avenue and Parsons Road in Devonshire involving two cars. It appears that the cars were traveling in opposite directions on Roberts Avenue when they collided. One car left the scene following the collision and was subsequently located by officers unattended. That vehicle was impounded. The driver of the other car, a 32 year old Hamilton parish woman, sustained a laceration to her right knee while her passenger, a 31 year old Warwick woman, suffered pain to her chest.

Marine Incident - At 3:29pm on Saturday, police responded to a marine incident that took place at Somerset Long Bay Beach in Sandys parish. It appears that a 35 year old Paget man (contract worker) was kite surfing along the shoreline around Somerset Long Bay when he apparently lost control of his kite-board and was dragged onto the rocks resulting in the Paget man suffering hand, leg and severe head injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was listed in critical condition. The most recent information is that the 35 year old Paget man has been airlifted off of the island for further medical care.

Burglary - Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place on Harrington Sound Road in Smith's parish. It appears that the complainant left her home secured a few minutes before 8am yesterday morning only to return a few minutes after 5pm to notice that someone gained entry into her home and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry. Police are reminding the public to secure their homes before retiring for the evening and before leaving for the day.

Update: Sudden Death - Police can now confirm the death of 40 year old Shane Carlyle Kelly of Old Road in Hamilton Parish. It appears that a few minutes after 7pm Wednesday police responded to a report of a marine incident at Green Bay Road in Hamilton Parish. Members of the community saw a man in the water by the Green Bay dock in a non-responsive state and as a result the emergency services were called. However, the 40 year old Hamilton Parish man was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:30pm. Foul play is not suspected in the death of Shane Kelly.

Sudden Death

A few minutes after 7pm Wednesday, police responded to a report of a marine incident at Green Bay Road in Hamilton Parish. It appears that members of the community saw a man in a non-responsive state in the waters off of Green Bay dock. The 40 year old Hamilton Parish man was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:30pm. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. Foul play is not suspected.

Confirmed Firearm Incident on Crane Lane

A few minutes before 3pm today, a 29 year old Pembroke man checked himself into the hospital with a gun shot wound to his body. The 29 year old man’s injuries appear to be non-life threatening. Police were alerted and were told the shooting took place in the St. Monica's Mission area. It was later established that the shooting took place on Crane Lane in Devonshire.

Confirmed Firearm Incident

A few minutes before 3pm today, a 29 year old Pembroke man checked himself into the hospital with a gun shot wound to his body. Police were alerted and were told the shooting took place in the St. Monica's Mission area. Police presently are in the process of establishing the shooting scene. The 29 year old man's injuries appear to be non-life threatening. There is a heavy police presence currently in the area as officers try to establish the location of the shooting. Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact police on 295-0011.

Death Announcement - The Bermuda Police Service would like to formally pass on our sympathies to the  family of Jacqueline Augustus, the Bermuda Police Service Seamstress.  Her friendly face, warm manner, and commitment to her craft will always be remembered. Ms. Augustus passed away on Sunday afternoon after battling an undisclosed illness. Again on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and the Bermuda Police Service Family, we extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jacqueline “Jackie” Augustus.

Update: Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys parish - The 19 year old man who was shot in the firearm incident that took place a few minutes before 4pm yesterday at the junction of Middle Road and Woodlawn Road in Sandys parish was in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries to his lower torso. He has now been airlifted overseas for further medical treatment. We are continuing our appeal for witnesses; however it would be remiss of the Service if we did not take this opportunity to thank the public for their response to this incident thus far, as there has been no shortage of individuals coming forward.

Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys Parish

Police responded to a report of a confirmed firearm incident that took place at 3:45 this afternoon at the junction of Middle Road and Woodlawn Road in Sandys parish. It appears that a man traveling on a motorcycle in the aforementioned area was shot. The 19 year old man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.Presently the area around the shooting has been cordoned off and traffIc has been diverted to the Railway Trail. Robbery - Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place a few minutes after twelve this morning. It appears that a 16 year old boy was traveling on South Road in Smith's parish when he was forced to stop by 2 men on a motorcycle. The boy was threatened by the men with a weapon they then robbed him of his helmet, I-Pod, mobile phone and black leather bag with Real Madrid logo on the front of the bag. The suspects are described as: (suspect 1) a black male between 5'11" and 6 feet tall and (suspect 2) is described as a light complexioned male approximately 5'11" tall.

Sudden Death - Police can now confirm the death of 31 year old Dennis Shawn Fox of Southampton. Mr. Fox was found in a non-responsive state around 4:30pm on Friday outside a residence on Riviera Crescent in Southampton. He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he later was pronounced dead. Foul play is not suspected in the death of Dennis Shawn Fox and the Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Man Driving Whilst Impaired - Police were on mobile patrol in the area of North Shore Road in Hamilton parish around 3:30am when they came across a male rider on a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. Police pulled the cyclist over, as officers had reason to believe that he was driving whilst impaired. The man was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was given the Alco-analyzer; he subsequently failed the test. He was processed and detained. The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind the public if you consume alcohol do not drive. Police will be very vigilant for this offence.

Burglary - On Tuesday August 17th police responded to a report of a burglary that took place at the Crawl Hill Gas Station. It appears that approximately 11:30pm a store worker arrived on the premises only to notice the front door glass was smashed and someone had gained unlawful entry onto the property. The suspect(s) stole an undisclosed amount of cigarette cartons (Marlboro and Camels). Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may know of any unauthorized person(s) selling discounted cigarettes to contact police.

Man Arrested in Connection with Stolen Dog - At 3:30pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that the complainant left her home at 10am only to return at 2pm to discover that someone had gained entry into her dwelling and removed a dog. A 51 year old man has been arrested in connection with this matter and the dog has been returned to its rightful owner.

Burglary - At 3:30pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a breaking and entering that took place on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish. Upon police arrival it was ascertained that the complainant left her home at 10am only to return at 2pm to discover that someone had gained entry into her dwelling and removed a dog; however nothing else appeared to be missing.  Meanwhile, on Saturday around 1pm police attended a residence on Poinciana Road in Devonshire. Officers spoke with the complainant who stated that someone gained unlawful entry into his dwelling and stole two televisions. Inquiries into both incidents are underway.
