Around 2:40am Sunday, July 14th police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel responded to a two car collision on South Road in Paget, between the Botanical Gardens and Tee Street.

It appears that the two cars involved were being driven in opposite directions along South Road near the junction with Happy Talk Lane when they collided.

One of the drivers, said to be a 58 year old Pembroke man, sustained leg and chest injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle he was in by the attending firefighters while the other driver, said to be a 32 year old Devonshire man, was also injured and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

A medical update on both men is anticipated in due course.

However, at this time it is understood that the 32 year old man’s injuries are less serious than the 58 year old man’s injuries.

Both vehicles were damaged and traffic diversions were in effect while the scene was processed.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses are still asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.
