Temporary Closure of Somerset Police Station

Wed, 2014-07-23

The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to inform the public, but more specifically those living in the western end of the island, that the Somerset Police Station will be temporarily closed from Wednesday July 23rd for approximately three weeks in order for a new radio tower to be installed onto the grounds adjoining the Police Station on Somerset Road.

As a result of this temporary closure, a temporary police office has been established at the Royal Naval Dockyard; Building #15 2 Sally Port Lane, North Basin, Dockyard next to the Makin’ Waves store, at the site of the soon to be opened Dockyard Marine and Community Police office.

A phone box will be affixed to the wall on the outside of the Somerset Police Station that will automatically connect the user to the on duty Station Duty Officer who will be relocated to the Dockyard office. Telephone number 234-1010 will remain the contact number for the Somerset Police Station and all emergency calls should be placed via 911.

The Dockyard office Station Enquiry Desk will be manned 24/7 until the radio tower is in place and normal functions can resume at Somerset Police Station.

Residents can expect to continue to see highly visible patrol officers in the Somerset area as well as the officers of the Western Community Action Team who will be out and about in the neighbourhoods.

Officers will continue to come and go from the Somerset Police Station outside of the hours that the tower is being worked on, however from a safety & health perspective a temporary move of the enquiry desk and administrative functions of the Station were felt necessary.
