Sudden Death in the Corkscrew Hill, Devonshire Area [Updated]

Around 1pm today (February 4th) police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man in the Corkscrew Hill, Devonshire area.

The man was found by a member of the public and later pronounced dead at the scene by an on call doctor.

Initial information suggests that the deceased may have been living rough at that location.

A temporary traffic diversion was in effect at the top of Corkscrew Hill from approximately 3:50pm until approximately 4:30pm to facilitate the removal of the body.

Currently inquiries are underway to establish the man’s identity and notify his next of kin.

Update: Wednesday, February 6th - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 56 year old Mr. Wilburt Spencer and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Spencer was found by a member of the public in an unresponsive state around 1pm Monday, February 4th – in an area of trees at Corkscrew Hill, Devonshire where it is believed he had been living rough – and pronounced dead at the scene later that day by an on call doctor.

Foul play is not suspected and a cause of death is being examined.
