Around 12:30pm Wednesday, May 17th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision in the Malabar Road, Sandys parish area.

Initial information suggests that the collision involved a rental cycle and a car in the vicinity of Watford Bridge.

Apparently the female rider and male pillion passenger of the rental cycle were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

At this time there have been no injuries reported regarding the car driver.

Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene and an update on the injured individuals will be provided in due course.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Update: The rental cycle involved in this collision is a traditional two-wheeled vehicle, not one of the new four wheeled rental vehicles. In addition, the female rider and male pillion passenger injured are said to be visitors to the island and were initially headed to the hospital by ambulance for treatment, but apparently en route decided not to attend the hospital. Instead, it is understood both visitors returned to Dockyard for medical assessment of their injuries, which were considered to be non-life threatening, onboard the cruise ship they arrived on.
