Reported Assault on Court Street

Police responded to a report of an assault that took place a few minutes before 12am on Monday night. The victim a 34 year old Devonshire man was leaving a liquor licensed premises on Court Street when a 27 year old female with whom he had a prior disagreement along with some other individuals confronted him. The woman purportedly shouted expletives at the victim and commenced throwing punches at him. The victim tried to keep the suspect away however, the woman head butted him twice in the nose and mouth area resulting in the victim being taken to the hospital where he was treated for a nasal bone fracture and other facial injuries. An active investigation into this incident is underway and police are appealing to anyone who may have seen this assault to please contact the Central Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
