Shortly after 7:00 pm on Thursday 13th February, police received several reports of gunshots being heard in the area of Middletown, Pembroke.

A subsequent caller confirmed the incident had occurred at a residence on Happy Valley Lane in Pembroke and that a male in his early twenties sustained a gunshot wound to his upper left arm.

The victim was taken to hospital via a private car for treatment to his injuries which were determined to be non life threatening.

Police cordoned off the scene and maintained a presence overnight as the investigation into this confirmed firearms incident continues.
