Man Arrested for Social Media Threats, Menacing Comments Directed at Premier

This morning, officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit carried out a search at a Hamilton Parish residence, after an investigation was launched into threats and other menacing comments made on social media toward the Premier Hon. David Burt during a live interview.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and detained in relation to this matter.

Persons should be mindful that threats, offensive and other menacing acts towards anyone on social media maybe contrary to the Electronic Communications Act 2011, and persons committing such acts if found guilty maybe imprisoned for one year or be fined $25,000.00, or both.
