Incident Involving a Man on a Roof in St. George’s Thursday Morning

Around 9:15am Thursday, August 1st police officers responded to a report of a man on the roof at a Wellington Back Road, St. George’s residence.

At first the 24 year old male resident was apparently on the roof naked, which was captured on video and shared via social media.

However, on police arrival he was fully clothed, spoken with and came down from the roof without incident.

The 24 year old man was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by a family member in a private vehicle for medical assessment.

Inquiries Underway Regarding Offensive Graffiti

Around 10am Thursday, August 1st police officers responded to reports of willful damage in the City of Hamilton/Pembroke area.

The offensive graffiti, which threatened violence to police officers during Cup Match, was found spray painted at:

Dundonald Street

Happy Valley Road

Junction of Beacon Street and Angle Street

Cedar Avenue

The graffiti was documented and inquiries continue.

Incident at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Wednesday Afternoon

Around 3pm Wednesday, July 31st police officers responded to an incident at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Southampton.

It appears that a 58 year old local man had climbed the stairs to the top of the lighthouse and threatened to jump off.

The lighthouse keeper and a member of the public intervened until police officers arrived on the scene a short time later – with police negotiators eventually getting the man to come down from the lighthouse without incident.

He was then taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for medical assessment.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to commend the lighthouse keeper and the member of the public that intervened for their prompt and brave action.
