Fifth Road Fatality for 2017 [Updated]

Around 9:15pm Saturday, May 27th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Bandroom Lane.

The injured rider, believed to be a 41 year old Pembroke man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time until his next of kin have been notified.

The investigation into this fatal collision, the fifth for 2017, is underway and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.

Update: The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 41 year old Michael Skinner and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Skinner was seriously injured in a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash around 9:15pm Saturday, May 27th. 

It is now understood that the motorcycle he was riding struck a sidewalk along North Shore Road Pembroke near Church Lane, in the vicinity of Grace Methodist Church.

Mr. Skinner was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but was later pronounced dead. 

A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist his family at this difficult time.

The appeal for any witnesses to the fifth road fatality for 2017 continues and persons with information that can assist the investigation are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.
