Female Visitor Hurt in Southampton Rental Cycle Crash [Updated]

Around 3pm Sunday, June 9th a reported serious single vehicle rental scooter crash occurred on South Road in Southampton near the Fairmont Southampton resort.

Details are limited at this time. However, the visiting female rider involved sustained suspected head injuries and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

An update on her medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic diversions are currently in effect while the scene is being processed.

Update: Monday, June 10th - At last check this morning (June 10th) the 48 year old visiting American woman hurt in a single vehicle rental scooter crash that occurred around 3pm Sunday, June 9th on South Road in Southampton near the Fairmont Southampton resort was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital, where she is receiving treatment for non-life threatening head and leg injuries.

It appears that the female visitor was riding the rental scooter west along South Road when she crashed after going off the road on to a dirt path and then back on to South Road. Thankfully, her injuries are not as serious as first thought.
