Fatal Collision in Southampton

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision between a car and motorcycle that took place on Middle Road, Southampton in the area of Five Star Island around 5:48am this morning (September 28th).

The motorcyclist involved, believed to be a 38 year Southampton woman, was seriously hurt and rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance – but later succumbed to her injuries.

Identification of the deceased will take place in due course, pending next of kin notification.

The car driver involved, believed to be a 30 year old Warwick woman, apparently sustained a shoulder injury. She was treated at hospital and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately three hours while the scene was processed. A full investigation into this year’s eleventh road fatality is underway. Witnesses are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.

ICU Condition Check

At last check earlier this morning (September 28th) the 25 year old male motorcyclist from Smith’s parish injured in a collision with an unmarked police car around 2:30pm Tuesday, September 19th at the junction of North Shore Road and My Lord’s Bay Road, Hamilton parish remained in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The investigation continues and any further witnesses to this collision are encouraged to contact Inspector Robert Cardwell at the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1076.

Reported Drug Seizure at MSA

On Friday the 22nd of September police attended the Mount Saint Agnes Academy as a result of information received. This led to a small quantity of plant material being seized from an unattended auxiliary cycle on the school property. The drugs have been taken to the Government Analyst and an investigation is now underway to link the drugs to an individual. It should be noted that the school is fully cooperating with police.
