Driver Treated & Discharged After Crashing Car Into Utility Pole

It now appears that around 3:30am Friday, July 26th a reported single vehicle crash occurred on South Road in Warwick, in the vicinity of Southlands, involving a car and a utility pole.

The original statement regarding this incident indicated that the crash occurred around 3:45am.

Apparently the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of South Road when it struck the utility pole, near the junction with Dunscombe Road.

The driver, said to be a 30 year old Pembroke man, sustained lacerations to his ear. He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via private vehicle, treated and later discharged.

BELCO personnel attended the scene to repair the downed utility pole and traffic diversions were in effect while the work was carried out.

Boater Hurt After Striking Reef in Waters Surrounding Castle Island

Around 8:30pm Thursday, July 25th police received a 911 call from a lone boater in marine distress.

The male boater, said to be a 63 year old Pembroke resident, apparently struck a reef in waters surrounding Castle Island in St. George’s, sustaining facial injuries.

He was rescued and brought safely to shore through teamwork involving the Maritime Operations Centre, which issued a public broadcast for mariners to assist. A police officer and a member of the public responded in separate vessels, providing initial first aid. It is also understood that a pilot boat crew headed to the scene in their vessel.

In addition, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel provided medical care on arrival at the nearest dock, before the 63 year old man was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further treatment.

At last check this morning (July 26th) he was listed in stable condition on a general ward.

Driver Remains Stable in ICU After Two Car Collision July 14th

At last check this morning (July 26th) the 58 year old male driver injured in a two car collision that occurred around 2:40am Sunday, July 14th on South Road in Paget, near the junction with Happy Talk Lane, remained in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
