Car Overboard Middle Road Southampton [Updated]

Around 5:20pm today (January 5th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton.

Initial information indicates that a car went off the road and ended up overboard, partially submerged, in the vicinity of Five Star Island.

Apparently the driver, said to be a 60 year old man, escaped the crash unharmed and was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

There were minimal traffic delays in the area following the incident and it is understood arrangements will be made to remove the vehicle involved in due course.

Update: Sunday, January 6th - Around 5:20pm Saturday, January 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton.

It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road when it struck the roadside wooden fence, went down an embankment and ended up overboard, partially submerged, in the vicinity of Five Star Island.

Apparently the driver, said to be a 60 year old Paget man, escaped the crash unharmed and was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

There were minimal traffic delays in the area following the incident and it is understood arrangements will be made to remove the car involved in due course.
