Mon, 2019-06-24

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can confirm that an off duty 22 year old BPS Constable is the man that sustained serious injuries in a single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 2:45am Sunday, June 23rd on Crow Lane in Pembroke, while he was riding his private motorcycle.

The young man is currently receiving treatment in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley said: “I was called to the hospital at 5:30am on Sunday and spent time with the Constable’s family and also visited the injured officer. I plan to visit again, after consulting with the family and based on their availability.

In addition, a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned and the investigation continues to determine the full circumstances.

However, indications are that no other vehicle or person was involved and at this stage, it appears to have been a tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Constable’s family at this difficult time and they have the full support of the BPS.”

Once again, any witnesses are encouraged to contact Sergeant Bernadette Lawrence on 717-2349 or via her e-mail blawrence@bps.bm as soon as possible.
