27 Year Old Man Fatally Stabbed

Police and first responders attended a report of an incident that took place at Rural Hill Plaza outside of Ice Queen in Paget on Saturday, 4:15am. Details are still unfolding but it appears that a major melee took place in the parking lot with a number of people involved. As a result, a 27 year old male from Southampton was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital with an apparent stab wound to his chest. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at 4:28 am Saturday.

The area has now been cordoned off and an investigation into this incident is now underway. There were upwards of 30 plus individuals in the area at the time and police are appealing for anyone who was involved in the altercation or anyone who may have seen the incident to contact police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-8477.

No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Mean while around 3:55am this morning [August 22nd 2015] first responders attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision, which occurred along Harrington Sound Road Hamilton Parish near the junction with Wilkinson Avenue. 

It was reported that a man travelling in an easterly direction in his motorcar lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole. While EMT’s from the BFRS were attempting to extract the man from the vehicle, another man on a motorcycle also travelling east came into contact with the motorcar involved in the initial collision, hitting four EMT's from the Fire Service in the process.

The motorcycle rider was uninjured however the man driving the car was transported to KEHM where at last check he was being treated for leg and hip injuries.

Two Firefighters suffered neck and back pain and the other two minor injuires. All four Firefighters were treated at KEMH and released.
