19 Year Old Woman Arrested in Connection With Stabbing

A 19 year old woman believed to be from Paget has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of an 18 year old Devonshire woman around 12:30am Sunday, August 25th near Horseshoe Bay beach, Southampton. She remains in police custody at this time.

The 18 year old woman’s injuries are not life threatening and apparently the arm injury sustained by an 18 year old Devonshire man at the same location is not consistent with a stab wound.

It is believed that he fell on some rocks in the area around the time of the stabbing incident.

The investigation continues and detectives encourage anyone who has video footage of the stabbing to come forward.

Witness Appeal: Security Officer Assaulted at East End Mini Yacht Club

Detectives are continuing their inquiries regarding a reported assault at East End Mini Yacht Club.

It appears that around 12:30am Saturday, August 24th a 39 year old male security officer conducting his duties at the entrance of the premises attempted to check the ages of a group of males and females intending to enter when he was assaulted by the group of males.

The security officer was treated for injuries to his face and body at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. He was later discharged.

A 38 year old St. George’s man arrested in connection with this incident has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints in 7 Parishes Labour Day Weekend

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Wednesday, August 21st) will be conducted throughout Labour Day holiday weekend, starting Friday, August 30th.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Smith’s parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget, Warwick and Southampton on Friday, August 30th, Saturday, August 31st, Sunday, September 1st and Monday, September 2nd.
