April 5 - Weekend Report

Fatal RTC - Around 1:30am on Sunday, Police attended a fatal road traffic collision on South Road in Warwick near the junction with Dunscombe Road involving a truck and a car. Details remain unclear; however it appears that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on South Road when they collided and that there were three people in the car and two people in the truck at the time. After the collision the car burst into flames.

Burglary - Around 2pm on Thursday, Police received a reported of a burglary at a Kitty’s Drive, Hamilton parish residence. The complainant stated that around 10am that day, she was out in her yard doing some gardening. When she returned inside later that morning, she discovered an unknown culprit had gained entry while the home was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. A 37 year old Hamilton parish man was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident. Inquiries are ongoing.

Burglary - Around 10:35pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Rocky Lane West, Hamilton parish residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 8am and 9:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 25 year old Kareem Raynor of Pembroke. An investigation into the circumstances regarding his death is ongoing. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased. An autopsy is anticipated.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

* Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 2
* Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 21
* Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George’s = 1, Hamilton parish = 1, Devonshire = 4, Pembroke = 7, Paget = 2, Warwick = 4 and Southampton = 2.

March 30 - Daily Report

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 38 year old Emmanuel Sousa of Pembroke. Around 10:40pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Twin Lanes South involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on North Shore Road and the car was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 38 year old Pembroke man, received serious head injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance; however, he was later pronounced dead at 11:30pm on Sunday.
