April 23 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 2pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Marsh Lane involving two motorcycles. It appears that one motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road and the other motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the eastbound cycle, a 57 year old Pembroke man, sustained broken toes on his right foot, a broken finger on his left hand and abrasions. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The rider of the westbound cycle did not stop. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Vehicle Fire - Around 12:25am today, Police were on mobile patrol when they received a report of a vehicle fire on North Shore Road in Pembroke, near the junction with Blackwatch Pass. On arrival officers observed a car engulfed in flames. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the fire. The car was extensively damaged and subsequently impounded by Police. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Injury RTC - Around 6:50pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Frithcote Lane in Warwick involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Middle Road and the car was exiting Frithcote Lane when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 30 year old Warwick man, sustained a broken left thumb as well as abrasions to his right hand and right knee. The driver of the car, a 51 year old Smith’s parish man, was not injured. Both vehicles were moderately damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

April 19 - Weekend Report

Damage Only RTC/Vehicle Fire/Impaired Driving - At 5am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Dolphin Ridge (in the vicinity of the Fairmont Southampton Resort). It appears that a car was traveling west on South Road when the driver, a 20 year old Warwick man, lost control and collided with a wall. The driver and his passenger, a 21 year old Warwick man, were not injured (though the driver suffered a nose bleed) and managed to get out of the car before it caught fire. The vehicle was extensively damaged as a result.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - At 7:25pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of St. John’s Road and Euclid Avenue in Pembroke. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling south on St. John’s Road when the rider, a 38 year old Pembroke man, lost control at the junction and collided with a utility pole. The Pembroke man sustained a laceration to his head as well as abrasions to his hands and feet. He was taken to KEMH for treatment of his injuries and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The motorcycle received moderate front end damage.

April 16 - Daily Report

Willful Damage - Around 8:10 this morning, Police received a report of willful damage at St. Peter’s Church in St. George’s. The church’s pastor stated that sometime between 4pm on Wednesday and 7:55am on Thursday, an unknown culprit or culprit(s) disturbed four headstones in the graveyard. Three were damaged and one was dislodged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.
