Reported Robbery at Food Hub on Angle Street

Around 6:40pm Monday, 4th December 2023, police responded to a report of a robbery which occurred at the Food Hub, on Angle Street, Pembroke.

It was reported that two males arrived at the location on a black motorcycle.

One of the suspects entered the premises and apparently brandished a firearm to the female staff member.

The second suspect waited outside on the motorcycle.

A quantity of cash was removed from the cash register and the first suspect left the establishment on the motorcycle with the waiting accomplice.

No persons were injured in the incident.

The male suspect who entered the premises is described as 6’ 2” in height, skinny, had on dark coloured pants, a dark coloured jacket and a black helmet with a dark coloured visor. The second suspect was described as 5’ 3” in height and wore all black clothing.

Separate Firearms Warrants: Murder Suspects Arrested & Firearms Seized

On Friday, December 1st, 2023, police executed a firearms warrant at a Smith’s Parish residence as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Mr. Wilfred Outerbridge Jr.

A 26-year-old male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and items liable for seizure recovered.

A second suspect, also a 26-year-old male, who was being sought in connection with the murder of Mr. Ourterbridge, was arrested when police officers assisted by the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard, intercepted a vessel in Bermuda’s waters, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on the same day.

Both men were transported to the Hamilton Police Station where they were processed and detained. They were subsequently bailed pending further investigations.

Wilfred Outerbridge, a father of three, was shot while at his Railway Trail, Warwick, residence, around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21st.

He later succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

On Saturday, Decmember 2nd, police executed a firearms warrant at a location in St. George.

Two firearms were recovered, along with several rounds of ammunition, a quantity of suspected controlled drugs and an amount of cash.

A 28-year-old male has been arrested and bailed in relation to the seizure of these items.

Inquiries Underway After Man Found With Multiple Stab Wounds

Around 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, police were dispatched to a residence on East Shore Road, Sandys Parish, following a report of a male prowler.

Upon arrival at the location, officers found a 39-year-old male with multiple stab wounds about the body.

He was conscious and breathing.

Emergency services were immediately notified. EMTs attended and conveyed the injured man via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where at last check, he continued to receive treatment for his injuries.

It is believed the victim may have sustained his injuries at another location and was seeking to avoid his attackers when he was seen by residents of East Shore Road who thought he was a prowler and called police.

Man Arrested, Vehicle Impounded After Failing to Stop for Police

A SUV driver was arrested for disqualified driving, issued with relevant traffic tickets and has a Magistrates’ Court appearance scheduled in the near future, after leading police officers on a pursuit Wednesday morning (29th November 2023).

Minutes before 9am Wednesday, the driver of a silver Honda CR-V turned from Crow Lane on to Lane Hill, Pembroke in contravention of the posted traffic sign.

At the time, Bermuda Police Service (BPS) officers were conducting a traffic initiative along Lane Hill.

When signalled to stop by a BPS officer, the SUV driver, understood to be a 39-year-old Devonshire man, slowed down but then accelerated away.

A pursuit ensued, with police vehicles following the SUV driver through parts of Devonshire, Pembroke and the City of Hamilton. The man eventually stopped in a driveway off Serpentine Road, Pembroke, where he was arrested without further incident.

The individual involved has since been released on police bail.

A video currently circulating on social media shows some of Wednesday morning’s pursuit.

The vehicle involved was impounded and later released to the registered owner.

Operation Moonstone

On Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) conducted Operation Moonstone.

During the operation led by the Tactical Operations Police Support Unit, assisted by other units within the BPS, officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a Warwick Parish residence.

During the course of the ensuing search, officers discovered and seized a quantity of U.S. currency, along with a substantial amount of suspected controlled drug, crack cocaine.

A 40-year-old male was arrested in connection with this operation and the investigation into his matter remains ongoing.

Acting Inspector,  Khalid Pitcher, of the Tactical Support Unit said: “This successful seizure, effectively disrupted a drug network operating in Bermuda and has contributed to the protection of our community from the harmful impact of illicit drugs.”

“The Bermuda Police Service remains committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for all residents.”

Weekend Incidents

Robbery

Around 10:40 p.m. Friday, 24th November 2023, police received a report of a robbery at Four Star Pizza, Flatts.

Information is, an unknown male wearing all black clothing, a black helmet, a mask and gloves, entered the store and forced the cashier out of the way before he removed the cash from two registers.

The subject then fled the scene on a dark coloured motorcycle.

He rode off in a westerly direction along North Shore Road and made good his escape.

Police are asking anyone who may have any information on this incident to contact Detective Sergeant Lennox Ince on 717-2304 or, via email lince@bps.bm.

Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving

Shortly after 3:45 a.m. Saturday, 25th November 2023, police officers on mobile patrol on Reid Street observed a disturbance, in the area of Bungalow 56 on Reid Street, City of Hamilton.

Upon seeing police, one of the men involved fled on a motorcycle while not wearing a helmet. The disturbance dissipated, and the male returned a short time later.

He however fled the scene riding a motorcycle, for a second time.

The subject was subsequently located on Court Street near Jamaican Grill and upon seeing police fled for a third time.

Officers then came across the male, who appeared to have lost control of his motorcycle and crashed by mounting the sidewalk near the junction of Two Way Mews and North Street, Pembroke.

He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was attended to at the scene by EMTs, before he was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Confirmed Firearms Incident in Warwick [Updated]

Around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, police received reports of several gunshots heard in the area of Cobbs Hill and the Railway Trail in Warwick.

Upon police arrival at the scene it was confirmed that a male had been shot.

He was transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment for his injuries which are considered life threatening.

An investigation into this incident has begun and anyone with information is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011.

Update: The male injured in tonight’s confirmed firearms incident, in Warwick has sadly, succumbed to his injuries.
