October 5 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 8pm on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Dundonald Street and Brunswick Street in Pembroke involving a taxi and a motorcycle. It appears that the taxi was traveling west on Dundonald Street and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 20 year old Warwick man, sustained injuries to his legs and abrasions to his body. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the taxi, a 74 year old Southampton man, was not injured. Both vehicles received moderate front end damage.

October 4 - Weekend Report

Handbag Snatch - Around 11:30pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch. Details remain unclear; however the victim, a 29 year old U. K. woman, stated that around 11:10pm that day she was riding her rental cycle along Harbour Road when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode up beside her, took her white handbag from the rental cycle’s basket and then made good their escape. The visitor was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash, a watch, two cellular phones, an I-Pod and personal items.

Police Week 2009 is almost here! An important change to the Police Week schedule – on Sunday, October 4th the non-denominational inter-faith service will be held at BUEI at 10am, not Ruth Seaton James auditorium as currently advertised.

Handbag Snatch - At 9:15am on Thursday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch. The victim, a 20 year old Paget woman, stated that at 6:15am that day she was riding west on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near Dub City Variety store when an unknown man on a motorcycle grabbed her handbag and made good his escape. The Paget woman was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash, a BlackBerry cellular phone and personal items. The suspect was described as a black male of slim build wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and a helmet with a visor, riding a dark grey & silver motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary - At 1:25pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Second Avenue, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8:15am and 12:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a 42” flat screen TV and a gold ring. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

September 30 - Daily Report

Burglary - At 6:20pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at an Alexandra Road, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8am and 6pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and jewelry as well as a cellular phone and a quantity of DVDs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.
